The Temple of Gu is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit mystery school dedicated to ancestral education, cultural preservation, and the transmission of sacred knowledge into the Age of Intelligence.
Rooted in Afro-Indigenous traditions of the diaspora, the Temple preserves and teaches the wisdom of traditions including Ifá, Orisha religion, Vodou, Palo, Espiritismo, Rootwork, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Shinto, Buddhism, and other ancestral and contemplative paths. We approach these traditions not as relics of the past, but as living inheritances capable of informing the future.
The Temple of Gu is also uniquely engaged with artificial intelligence, digital community, and emerging technology. Our work asks a central question:
How do we carry ancestral wisdom forward without abandoning the ancestors who carried us here?
An Institution Already in Motion
The Temple of Gu is not an idea waiting to be built.
We have already created an extensive body of educational, artistic, spiritual, and cultural work.
Our growing archive includes books on ancestral religions and spiritual traditions, a six-volume educational role-playing game, liturgical music recorded in multiple languages, educational videos, online community programming, digital publications, and a developing collection of historical religious and cultural artifacts.
Together, these works form a modern mystery school designed to preserve knowledge while making it accessible to future generations.
We are now entering the next phase of our development: building the financial foundation that will allow this institution to endure.
Why Patronage Matters
Much of the Temple's work has been created without significant institutional funding.
Our books, music, archives, educational programs, digital infrastructure, and preservation efforts have been developed through years of personal labor, community support, and reinvestment into the Temple's mission.
Patron support allows us to move from survival toward sustainability.
Major gifts help us preserve historical artifacts, document ancestral traditions, maintain educational resources, support community programming, expand our archives, develop responsible public access to our collections, and work toward the eventual establishment of a permanent physical home for the Temple of Gu.
Our long-term vision is a living cultural and spiritual institution where ancestral knowledge, historical preservation, education, technology, ritual practice, and community can exist together.
Become a Temple Patron
We are currently inviting a small circle of individuals to become major patrons of the Temple of Gu.
Preservation Patron — $1,000
Supports the documentation, cataloging, digitization, and preservation of ancestral teachings, historical materials, and religious artifacts within the Temple's collection.
Temple Patron — $5,000
Provides significant support for the Temple's preservation work, educational programming, publishing, music, community infrastructure, digital archives, and ongoing institutional operations.
Founding Patron — $10,000+
Helps establish the long-term financial foundation of the Temple of Gu.
Founding Patrons provide major unrestricted support toward the preservation of our collections, sustainability of the priesthood and educational mission, expansion of institutional programs, and the eventual creation of a permanent physical home for the Temple.
Those who support the Temple during these formative years are helping determine whether this body of knowledge, culture, and spiritual innovation will remain available to future generations.
